Chicago Still Ranking High in Employment Growth
Chicago Now reports that Chicago is still ranking high in job growth. One of the leading sectors is, not surprisingly, IT - where it seems there are plenty of openings that need filled. The report they are citing is the Top Hiring Cities and Jobs for 2011 by CareerBliss. The study indicates that Chicago has 608,000 projected (future) annual job listings which is placing the city at number 3 in the study.
What does all of this mean? Well, for me - even though these are "projected" numbers - the study means hope to the thousands who have been looking for weeks, months or even years for that next big job. If you are unemployed in a city like Chicago there can certainly be periods of hopelessness. The economy is extremely competitive even when things are good so the added pressure could certainly seem like too much to handle for some, but this information might give that extra boost to those out there who are pounding the pavement.
